The South Carolina Real Estate Commission (LLR) requires you to renew your real estate license every 2 years. Here is what you need to know.

Check Your License Status

  • Not sure when your license will expire? Search by name, brokerage, or license number HERE.

  • You should have received an email from LLR asking you to verify your contact and email information.

  • Access your LLR portal HERE.

  • If you have trouble logging in, contact LLR directly at 803.896.4400 or email contact.rec@llr.sc.gov.

  • The next fingerprinting cycle is scheduled for 2027. If you renew in 2026, fingerprinting is not required.

Continuing Education Requirements

  • You must complete 10 CE credit hours since July 1, 2024:

    • 4 hours: Required core class — Legal Hot Tips

    • 6 hours: Elective credits of your choice

  • LLR allows you to roll over up to 4 elective hours into your next renewal period if you exceed 6 elective credits.

  • You may complete CE classes at any time within your two-year renewal cycle. You do not need to wait until the year your license expires. For example, if your license expires on June 30, 2027, you may begin taking classes on July 1, 2025.

Brokers-in-Charge

Brokers-in-Charge must complete:

  • 4 hours: Legal Hot Tips (core class)

  • 4 hours: BIC Duties and Responsibilities

  • 2 elective credit hours of your choosing

  • You may complete CE classes at any time within your two-year renewal cycle. You do not need to wait until the year your license expires. For example, if your license expires on June 30, 2027, you may begin taking classes on July 1, 2025.

 

Associate licensees may take the BIC Duties and Responsibilities course as elective credit.
